Merlyn Leroy Lane McIntyre's
Obituary
Born in Bakersfield, CA on Jun. 23, 1921
Departed on Apr. 11, 2006 and resided in Hemet, CA.

Merlyn L."Mack" McIntyre, passed away at home April 11th 2006.
Born June 23, 1921, in Bakersfield, CA.

During WWII, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, becoming a Pilot of B-17's, training Bombardiers, in Texas. He left the Military and became a driver for Gasoline Tankers for the Shell Oil Company in the San Joaquin Valley.

After 5 years, his family inherited farm property in Hemet and Fresno County. With the experience of his partner, Earl Stoltenberg, they formed Sierra Dawn Farms. Mack sold his interests in the company in 1962 but continued to use the name of McIntyre Farms for the various business enterprises. In 1962, he used a portion of the farmland to start Sierra Dawn Estates with a group of Los Angeles business men, including Art Linkletter. At one time this mobile home park housed 10% of the population of Hemet.

He developed several Hemet landmarks including the former Automobile Club of So. California building, now DaVita Dialysis, the Sir George Smorgasbord, which is now the Sizzler Restaurant, Mountain Valley RV Park, and the Acacia Business Center buildings.

He was most proud of the the 17 years he was Director and President of the Eastern Municipal Water District. Though this was an elected position he was never opposed for the seat. He was also President of the California Travel Parks Association, Riverside County Agriculture Stabilization Committee, Riverside County Airports Commission, Director and VP of the Hemet Chamber of Commerce, Hemet Lions Club, President of the Kiwanis Club, and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hemet Methodist Church.

Last December he and his loving wife Eleanor celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with an evening at the Mission Inn in Riverside with all their family.

He is survived by daughter, Maureen Christopher, of Oxnard, and his two sons Michael and his wife Nancy, and Marshall and his wife Linda, of Hemet.

He has 10 grandchildren, Craig McCue, James McCue, Cynthia Merlynn McCain, Jennifer McIntyre, Lane McIntyre, Daniel McIntyre, Bridget McIntyre, Clayton McIntyre, Patrick McIntyre, and Shaun McIntyre. His great grandchildren are: Alexandra and Heather McCue, Christian Haas and Hannah McCue, Taylor Merlynn McCain, and Sydney McIntyre.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request you to make a donation to the American Red Cross, the Ramona Pageant Association, the Hemet Methodist Church or your favorite charity. Mack would have liked that.
